Photograph Gallery 14 - To IWA National at Autherley 2008
In August 2008 "Success", owned by Ian Braine, was horse-drawn from Weston Wharf, near Stafford on the Trent and Mersey Canal, to the IWA National at Autherley Junction on the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal. The boathorse was Buddy, owned by Steven Rees-Jones of Bywater Cruises on the Montgomery Canal.

 Buddy working in a breast collar to give maximum clearance under some very low bridges.  Success is a Bantock horseboat built c.1908, about 100 years ago.  Buddy and Success are not affected by boats moored to the offside.  Much of the Staffs and Worcs Canal is rural.  A tight squeeze passing loaded butty Gosport.  Buddy begins his return journey from Autherley Junction.  Success has a very useful fore-cabin for storage of horse equipment.  Taking a break at Teddesley.  The brasses are now gleaming!  The decorative ropework has been scrubbed snow-white!
